Pillowing mounds of shino glaze rise and crawl across the surface of this handcrafted tea bowl, creating a richly tactile experience that invites the fingers to roam. The work celebrates materiality and the beauty of natural imperfection—forms that engage both hand and eye.

Designed for tea bowl–style drinking, the vessel offers a comfortable, organic grip. Warm the bowl, add a small handful of leaves, and hold it close. As the leaves gently open, the character of the tea deepens. When the bowl runs low, simply refill with hot water and continue the session.

Each piece in this series undergoes multiple firings over the course of two months. This patient process coaxes the character of the clay to the surface, forming pits, valleys, and a warm umber patina. Shino naturally develops fine crazing, and with repeated use, these lines become more defined—recording every steeping in a living history of tea.
